From its humble beginnings in Ipoh, Sheng Tai International has defied all odds to make a name for itself a the premier property developer for overseas buyers. As the pioneer of property tourism in Malaysia 10 years ago: it has since become a diversified group offering services in various aspects of real estate, investment management and hospitality.
The force behind this meteoric rise is Founder and Chairman of Sheng Tai Group, Dato’ Leong Sir Ley, A former lawyer who decided to venture into property development, Sir Ley started off in 2012 with a few small projects in Ipoh and Cameron Highlands.
When the market slowed down in 2012, she and partner Colin Tan, Director of Sheng Tai decided to venture overseas. They managed to penetrate the Hong Kong market and from then on, their property tours grew from 200 — 300 participants to 600 — 1000 per month today. These property tourists come from Hong Kong, Japan, China, South Korea, and soon Europe and the Middle East.
Today, Sheng Tai which is headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, has branch offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, South Korea and Japan.
Having been awarded the honorific title of Dato’ in 2015 for her contributions to the economy and society as an entrepreneur, Dato’ Leong went on to expand and transform Sheng Tai international into an integrated company providing top-notch Property Tourism & hospitality services and a wide range of real estate services,.
In 2017 Sheng Tai started reviving a few abandoned projects in Melaka — Regalia Beachfront Residences (RBF) and MITCI Melaka Business Centre (MBC). They also partnered with Guocoland Malaysia to sell DC Residensi.
The following year, the company planned to convert RAF into Hotel Nyra while MITC and MBC were renamed MetraSquare and Ames Hotel respectively. They also entered into a strategic joint venture with Alfranko to market Novo Jalan Ampang.
Fresh from the success of their activities, Sir Ley decided to take the company one level higher by embarking on an ambitious project, The Sail. The RM6.5 bil project is set to be the most iconic development in Melaka and is poised to become the epicentre of an international community reminiscent of Melaka 500 years ago.

Part of its strengths lies in its ability to choose the right partners. Among them are local construction partner, Titan Ritz; hotel management partner, Alorie; interior designers One Solution Design and ZDR Design. These are all supported by a team of lawyers based in three locations – Petaling Jaya, Ipoh and Shah Alam .
For The Sail project, Sheng Tai has partnered with Power China International Group, China Railway Engineering Corporation and China Railway Construction Engineering Group, all powerhouses in their respective industries.
