Tourism Malaysia Celebrates The Media and Industry Partners In Appreciation of 2019 Support

Tourism Malaysia recently held a special appreciation dinner to acknowledge the support and cooperation received from members of the media and tourism industry players throughout 2019. Around 350 guests from the media and tourism industry attended the event at The Glasshouse in Taman Seputeh. Datuk Musa Yusof, Director General of Tourism Malaysia and Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture were present as guests of honour.

Datuk Musa Yusof thanked the local media for promoting Malaysia internationally through the “Malaysia Truly Asia” brand and domestically, with the “Cuti-Cuti Malaysia” campaign. “By working together, we all reap the rewards from tourist arrivals and expenditures. And, along the way, reinforce Malaysia as a diverse, harmonious and beautiful tourist destination,” he affirms.

Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar concurs saying that with social media platforms today promoting news all over the globe, media players now shoulder a heavier responsibility in reporting, and hence, “need to be more sensitive to the repercussions of their words on the global stage”.

He adds that the aim is to welcome 30 mil tourists and achieve RM100 bil receipts with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and Tourism Malaysia kicking off Visit Malaysia 2020 in a big way with senior officers from the ministry set to welcome the arrival of the first tourists to Malaysia on Jan 1, 2020.
