Selo Group Embodies “Meaningful Travel” Ethos for the Future

Selo continues commitment to preserving the environment with precrafted villas, an upcoming Ecological Park and more

With a return to travel on the horizon, companies and individuals around the world have a chance to reflect on how their actions will impact the environments of the destinations they plan to explore. Selo Group, an award-winning and fully integrated development company based in Singapore, is focused on “meaningful travel,” an ethos that strives to not only minimize environmental impact but leave a destination better than it was before, for all its projects, including an Ecological Park currently under development.
“We hope that future travel will be much more intentional and socially responsible, especially after such a challenging year,” said Andrew Corkery, Selo Group CEO. “Our projects and residential units make meaningful travel easy to incorporate with sustainability and a zero-waste strategy as core elements of our work, plus one-of-a-kind accommodations perfect for long-term travel.”

Education

Selo is currently building an Ecological Park behind its Selong Selo Resort & Residences development in Lombok that will offer a unique opportunity for environmental education. The 100-hectare site will include a nursery, solar panels, plantation forests and other tourism activities, with the goal of promoting regeneration and restoration of the environment and social resilience in harmony with commercial development. Team members working at the Eco Park will receive in-depth training on land management and supporting agroforestry techniques, allowing them to educate visitors and be involved in the managerial process.

Economic Opportunities

Providing economic opportunities is also a key aspect of Selo’s meaningful travel policy. The Eco Park’s nursery, which will grow local native species for agroforestry, will be led by women to help set a precedent of gender equality and equity in Lombok and beyond. Selo works closely with local builders and communities to ensure the impact of its projects will benefit the area through work, tourism and the economy.

Environmental Consciousness

Experts such as Amadeus, a leading travel technology company, have predicted that travellers will likely take fewer flights but stay longer when it comes to international journeys to make the most of their getaways. Selo embraces this trend by offering beautiful villas that are ideal for long-term and return stays. The company’s precrafted villas provide an opportunity for sustainable and cost-effective real estate anywhere in Indonesia, combining effortless luxury with the natural beauty of the area. The villas are built off-site to prevent waste, and more than 97 percent of the construction debris is recycled. Limiting the time and activity on-site also reduces the environmental impact of the building process.

“We are thrilled to bring our exceptional style of hospitality to Malaysia, which now ranks among the top five preferred countries for Asian real estate investors,” said Andrew Corkery, CEO of Selo. “We have prioritized a luxurious living experience that enhances a true connection to the destination and instills a sense of belonging in a private vacation community with a focus on owner’s modern lifestyle choices that matter more than ever to our residents. Impiana Group has emerged as a major regional player and have since created a collection of some of the finest business hotels, resorts, private villas and spas across Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia for the last 2 decades.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Selo on this very exclusive development and look forward to embarking on this project to develop one of our idle strategic land banks into this valuable gem of a resort, in the midst of this adversity we are now experiencing. We trust this partnership forged with Selo would bring out the best in the property and make it a popular holiday destination of choice in time to come. Impiana will also be sharing our resort management experience, hence this property shall be managed by Impiana Hotels & Resorts Management Sdn Bhd, the hospitality operating arm of the Impiana Group,” according to Impiana’s Executive Chairman, Dato Seri’ Ismail @Farouk Abdullah.
Selo and Impiana will combine their expertise to collaborate on all aspects of the development from the design and operational aspects to the management of the property.

Easily accessible by plane or boat, Tioman Island lures travellers from Singapore, Malaysia and beyond with its tranquil landscape, pristine waters, and tropical climate.
Samãja Selo is located at the foot of the Twin Peaks of Gunung Semukut, the island’s most striking landmark, and near Mukut, which is known as the most scenic of Tioman Island’s eight main villages. The region features a kaleidoscope of terrestrial and marine biodiversity that can be viewed from land or in the water, from sea turtles and colorful fish to blacktip reef sharks and manta rays. To prevent overfishing and destruction of the fragile reef, the Malaysian government placed the waters around Tioman in the Mersing Marine Park in 1987.
Samãja Selo Private Residences are available by invitation only from USD $388,000 for Hilltop Lots and Beach Front lots from USD $1,288,000. For more information and to inquire about ownership at Samãja Selo, please visit www.samaja.selo.co.
