Rail linking Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal?

Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal have agreed to begin discussions on the possibility of having a rail network connecting the four SAARC countries to improve connectivity and regional trade.

The four countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) – also agreed to prioritise the construction of land ports and land customs stations, crucial for sub-20150611bangladesh-bhutan-india-nepal-to-sign-vehicle-pact-600x0regional trade and transit, says reports. Other areas of possible cooperation include exchanging best practices in water resources management, power trade, inter grid connectivity and flood forecasting.

Specific hydropower projects under BBIN framework that could be concretised on equitable basis were also discussed.
