What do Malaysian students look for when purchasing a property in the UK?
Typically, it la rgely depends on where they a re studying – London is la rgely the preferred purchasing destina tion. We do find tha t if the student is studying outside of London, say Oxford, Cambridge or Bristol, then they may initially look to purchase there. However, they usually end up buying in London, either as an investment or as a home a fter studies a re completed a nd they more-often-tha n-not look to living in London long term.
When looking for purely investment purposes, London still remains the preferred option a nd the budget generally sits between £500,000 – £1,000,000. We do also see some buyers with smaller budgets looking outside of the capital to destina tions like Ma nchester or Birmingha m, which have provided grea t capital growth a nd rental returns over the last few years.
