PETRA Cucina officially launched the opening of Roberto’s 1020 Osteria (Roberto’s) in Bangsar Shopping Centre. The restaurant aspires to bring high-end casual Tuscan dining experience to lovers of Italian cuisine in Kuala Lumpur.
Officiated by the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Cristiano Maggipinto and Chief Executive and Chairman of PETRA Group, Datuk Dr Vinod Sekhar, the flagship restaurant will be the first of many Roberto’s as PETRA Cucina is set to open more outlets across Malaysia and regionally.
“With Roberto’s, together with the already established Zenzero and Luce, we have established an authentic Italian restaurant brand in Malaysia that we can expand across the region. This shows that Malaysia is fully capable of being a developmental hub for the F&B industry, and that we can take our successful businesses to other cities,” he says.
“The restaurant offers guests authentic Tuscan and Emilian dishes which are underrepresented here in Kuala Lumpur,” adds Roberto Guiati, Chief Executive of PETRA Cucina.
In keeping with the Italian cooking ethos of treating the best ingredients with love, the restaurant sources many of its ingredients such as cold cuts, cheese, flour, some vegetable, some of the fish, veal, olive oil and wine from Italy to preserve authentic taste and flavours. The signature feature for the restaurant is the Alfa Forni wood and gas fired pizza oven brought in specially from Italy. This model is the only one in Malaysia.
The menu at Roberto’s has been meticulously curated and was inspired by Guiati’s and head Chef, Cristian Grandi’s personal taste.
“We also will be showcasing a variety of Tuscan and Emilian culinary staples such as handmade pastas, soups, cold cut platters plus contemporary dishes such as paninis and burgers. We have also created an Italian breakfast menu that stretches till brunch,” adds Guiati.
