Orbix Education Launches Malaysia’s First AI & Robotics Curriculum

The Orbix Education Group will be launching its new school at Pier8 in Gravit8 with its inaugural term slated to begin in January 2021. Orbix Education, a subsidiary of Abric Berhad currently runs two other schools in West Malaysia – namely in Muar and Batu Pahat. A pioneer in the education industry in Malaysia, the Orbix schools, besides incorporating the Cambridge and Fieldwork Education (UK) curriculums with the National curriculum, will see the Orbix International School, Muar focussing on developing business-minded students with its “School of Entrepreneurship” while its Batu Pahat campus will be known as the “School of Adventure Sports and Nature” with its upcoming Klang establishment named as the “School of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics”

The Orbix International School, Muar, started last year. Orbix Education also merged with United International School, Batu Pahat of the Nobel Group of Schools. Its name-change to Orbix International School, Batu Pahat will occur once approval is obtained from the Ministry of Education. This new Pier8 @ Gravit8 campus will be the third Orbix International School launched by Orbix Education representing the flagship “School of AI and Robotics”.
As forward-thinking educators, Orbix and Mitraland aims to equip students to fit into the new norms of the future, in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Orbix Education will be partnering IFLYTEK, a large AI-based China technology company to implement Malaysia’s first-ever AI syllabus for students. covering coding, machine learning, robotics and big data. Orbix Education plans to introduce this AI syllabus in all schools in gradual stages.
“We’re pleased to have Orbix set up campus within Pier8. This is a significant milestone for us and the surrounding communities with Orbix operating bilingually (English and Mandarin),” says Mitraland Group’s Chairman, Dato Johan Ariffin.
Chuah Theong Yee, Deputy Executive Director of Mitraland shares that Pier8 retail mall’s total net lettable area of 150,000 sq ft with over 700 car parking space is part of the integrated development of Gravit8, a 23 -acre freehold mixed-use development in Klang South. It combines residential components and family-like facilities like the eight-acre Lakepark.
Dato Albert Ong, Chairman/CEO of Abric Berhad & Orbix Education adds that it aims to deliver “Global Education, Exceptional Experience”. At the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, he says that educators are responsible to ensure the younger generation is prepared to face the future with” confidence, knowledge and courage”.
