OAKWOOD’S SUPER LARGE SPACE

Chief Editor Jan Yong checks into Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore and discovers it is so much more than just a luxurious serviced apartment.

Space and accessibility are the biggest advantages of Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore serviced apartments. In space-scarce Singapore, space is king and Oakwood Premier has it in abundance. That in itself is pure luxury – coupled with luxurious furnishings and unbeatable views of the harbour (for some rooms), this should make it the most sought-after short-stay serviced accommodation in Singapore.
With unit sizes ranging between 30 – 98 sqm configured in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, they should comfortably accommodate singles, couples and families on short stays of an average of one week and above. These units are especially popular with expatriates who have just arrived in Singapore and are looking for more permanent accommodation.

My one-bedroom apartment of exactly 54.9 sqm overlooks the harbour and I especially like the fact that even while I was in the bathroom, the view from the 26th floor is quite breathtaking. The living room size is just about nice with a huge Samsung TV and Bluetooth sound system while the bedroom is furnished with another Samsung TV, Samsung tablet and a Samsung mobile phone equipped with a specially curated Oakwood app which essentially behaves like an online concierge. You can even take the mobile phone with you anywhere. Panoramic views greet you from the living room and bedroom giving the illusion of even more space.
While the dining area occupies an unobtrusive corner, the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to host a small dinner party – including a coffee maker, oven, refrigerator/freezer and even a 2-in-1 washer/dryer. The kitchen proved to be very useful in the middle of the night when I woke up hungry.
Even of grander proportions is the two-bedroom apartment – while everything is almost the same as the one-bedroom, the size is more than double or triple that of the smallest studio thus redefining luxury in the context of Singapore – think 70 – 98 sq metres. For someone accustomed to huge living spaces, I was suitably impressed.
STANDOUT FACILITIES
The facilities are top-notch too – a beautiful large infinity swimming pool complete with a Jacuzzi, cabanas and sun loungers and a state-of-the-art fitness centre on the seventh floor. This floor also houses all the rest of the facilities such as the friendly reception, the executive boardroom which is fitted with some nifty equipment, and dining facilities such as the Se7enth Restaurant with its own Executive Chef.

In the evening, you can chill out at The Bar, an intimate lobby bar offering a curated selection of cocktails, spirits and premium wines. A free-flow of evening sunset cocktails and canapés are available to members of the Oakwood Executive Club Privilege, who also get to enjoy complimentary use of the Executive Boardroom and access to the Executive Club Lounge – both situated poolside with city views.
Frankly, there isn’t anything lacking in this accommodation – I would have loved a 100-channel cable TV and perhaps a sumptuous over-the-top breakfast buffet spread but there wouldn’t be any point in that as I wouldn’t be using or eating much of those. Speaking of food, there is an array of restaurants, shops and a gourmet grocer at the retail floors below at OUE Singapore.
Also conveniently located in the same building is a coworking space, The Work Project, occupying 1,800 sqm. Run by TWP, an award-winning co-working space operator, the facility will benefit those who need to network in a bigger space.
PRIME LOCATION

Pagar MRT station which is just a few stops away from the busy Raffles City, City Hall, Orchard and HarbourFront (Sentosa) stations. In any case, with Grab and Uber, you can arrive at most destinations in the CBD area within minutes.
‘‘Singapore has emerged as a lifestyle and luxury centre for Asia, where travellers from around the region visit to enjoy all that the country has to offer,” says Roy Liang, general manager of the serviced apartment. “We invite international guests to bring their families and settle in at Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore for an extended stay where we will pamper them with all the best amenities and services.”

I have no doubt Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore has all the makings of an accommodation that will quickly rise up to the top of the rankings for serviced apartments in Singapore. It’s practically a five-star hotel but with extra, extra-large space – that means it’s super luxurious. And when you are there, don’t forget to wear those extra soft gowns cum bathrobes; nothing beats the feeling of being pampered than when you are wrapped up in luxuriant bath robes, holding a glass of wine and watching the panoramic sunset views from the comfort of your living room.
