Glamourous EID Mubarak Prêt-à-Porter steals the show

The precedent-setting fashion show sets the stage for Melaka to break into the international fashion scene.

In one of its kind fashion show , the EID Mubarak Prêt-à-Porter held recently in Melaka has certainly sealed the historic city’s reputation as a fashion hub in Malaysia. Together with the launch of Straits Designer Gallery at Metrasquare, which showcases over 60 local designers’ latest ready-to-wear collections, shoes, clutches and accessories, the stage is set for a happening fashion scene in Melaka, thanks to the efforts of Fashion TV Academy Malaysia.
The academy is a collaboration between Sheng Tai International Sdn Bhd and FashionTV, the international fashion and lifestyle broadcasting television channel from Paris. Sheng Tai International, an award-winnnig developer which specialises in property tourism has big plans for the local fashion industry.

Says Dato’ Leong Sir Ley, Founder and Chairman of Sheng Tai International: “Since we entered the partnership with FashionTV from Paris, Sheng Tai International has been pro-actively spurring the growth of our local fashion industry through various fashion events or initiatives. EID Mubarak Prêt-à-Porter is one of them. It was conceptualised to provide the entire fashion ecosystem, including local designers, models, and make-up artists, a platform to showcase their talents and reconnect with vast audiences and fashion enthusiasts.”

“We are pleased that this showcase has achieved its goal. The response that we have received so far was beyond our expectation. With the reopening of the borders, we are positive that we can continue to spearhead more creative and cultural initiatives to elevate Malaysia, particularly Melaka, into the next Milan and play our part in steering through an economic recovery from COVID-19,” she adds.
The glamourous event was a runaway success which set a geat precedent for future similar events. Leading the fashion designers was Bill Keith, Malaysia’s renowned and international designer, who played a key role in helping to realise Leong’s vision of putting Melaka in the fashion world map.

EID MUBARAK Prêt-à-Porter showcased unique ready-to- wear Raya pieces for females and males from 10 local designers. These include Yan Creations, Kalai, Baqo, Faramas, Amin Jauhary, CARRO, Jayk, Sri Candy, Suliani, and Bill Keith. It also featured attractive and fashion-forward Raya outfits for everyone regardless of body type.
The 5,500 sq ft Straits Designer Gallery at Metrasquare is part of Sheng Tai International’s ongoing efforts to transform Melaka into a ‘creative and cultural hub of the future’ through its properties. APR
