Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Visits AKCC, Melaka's Top Sports Tourism Destination


In line with boosting the state’s economic activities as it moves forward from the impact of Covid-19, a launch ceremony was held recently to mark Ayer Keroh Country Club (AKCC) as a new sub-sector of sports tourism in Melaka for 2021.
The event was launched by Datuk Muhammad Jailani Bin Khamis, EXCO Tourism, Heritage & Culture of Melaka and Chairman of AKCCB. The significant milestone event was also witnessed by Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture (MOTAC). Also present at the ceremony were Dato’ Dr. Noor Zari bin Hamat, Secretary General of MOTAC, Datuk Wira Dr. Ir. Ahmad Zaini Mohd Amin, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AKCCB as well as Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy, Founder and Managing Director NCT Group of Companies.
AKCC’s well-established presence in the region as the first and largest golf club in Melaka with a 27-hole golf course is set to strengthen Melaka’s position as a top sports destination in Malaysia.

Founded in 1963, AKCC is amongst the earliest golf courses in Melaka to be certified by the Malaysian Golf Association. A prestigious recreational club situated is the heart of Ayer Keroh, AKCC is a strategic and attractive location for local and international tourists, particularly those hailing from Korea and Japan. Since its establishment, AKCC has hosted various championships including the 1989 Benson & Hedges Malaysian Open, the Panasonic Malaysian Open Amateur Championship and The Pan West Malaysian Open Amateur Championships.

Additionally, the establishment of Ion Forte Green City (IFGC) by NCT Group of Companies within AKCC creates a new, exciting and invigorating element with the availability of a reputable hotel, branded residences, wellness suites, an International Club House as well as a lakeside retail boulevard.
The development offers a holistic experience to visitors withits outdoor activities such as sky jogging track, a fully equipped gymnasium and swimming pool to be enjoyed amidst AKCC’s picturesque surroundings. Further to this, UUM International School Melaka (UUMISM), led by David Jeong, Founder and President of UUMISM and V. Gunalen, the former Malaysian Team Coach from 2009 till 2017 will render support to AKCC by providing specialised golf programmes and educational golf courses which will be made available to visitors.
